Prof. Dr. med. Wilfried Schmeller

Board certified dermatologist with additional specialisations in phlebology and allergology. He worked from 1980 to 1998 as a dermatologist focusing on surgical therapies in the Dermatology Department at the University Hospital in Lübeck.
Now in retirement his focus are on the clinic`s scientific issues and studies.

After further medical practice in the Centre for Vein Treatment in Bad Bertrich and the Rosenparkklink in Darmstadt, he founded, in 2002, the Hanse-Klinik in Lübeck, which focuses primarily on liposuction for lipoedema.

Department of Dermatology in Lübeck´s University Hospital where he built up the Section of Surgical Dermatology.
Consultant in dermatology 1984, Habilitation 1990.
Appointed Professor (C 3) 1992. Senior Consultant until 1998.

1991
During this time a further overland journey to Africa, working as a dermatologist in Kenya.

1993
Foundation of the organisation “Doctors in Aid of Children with Skin Diseases in Africa”. Since then regular stays in rural Western Kenya, training community health workers to identify and treat dermatoses.

1999
Mosel-Eifel-Klinik in Bad Bertrich (focusing on phlebology)

2000 - 2001
Rosenparkklinik in Darmstadt (focusing on phlebology, liposuction and aesthetic dermatology)

2002
Hanse-Klinik in Lübeck founded with main focus on liposuction for lipoedema
